Case Scenario: Motivating Staff in Healthcare Setting Motivation is the process to encourage the employee to work effectively to achieve the organizational goal. Understanding what motivates individuals is important in the workplace. Research suggests that motivated employees are happier at work (Oswald, Proto & Sgroi, 2016). They get more satisfaction from their work, are absent less often, tend to be more loyal and work with more enthusiasm (Rozman, Treven Cancer, 2017; Alam, 2012). This in turn encourages them to contribute more to the development of an organization. Manager has to identify the system to motivate his/her employees. Without an appropriate technique manager cannot satisfy each and every employee. So initially manager has to identify the needs and based on that needs he/she can motivate the employee by provide incentives. There are many theories from many researchers to identify the needs. But Maslow's hierarchy of need theory and Herzberg's two factor theories are mostly consider by decision makers. Imagine you a new staff working in an ABC hospital where employee morale is low and turnover is high, 1/3 of the total employees left the hospital. The organization is a mixture of different cultures Bahraini, and non Bahraini. All the people left the job are from different nationalities. You noticed that employees are getting good salary and good incentives still people are resigning from the organization. You found that some employees may leave the hospital for a different employer offering an extra BD 300 in salary or benefits, knowing that 41% percent of all employees have no loyalty to their hospital and will move on if a better offer comes add to the dilemma. You discovered that organization like XYZ treating employees with respect, and giving them such things as bonuses, rewards for longevity, onsite child care and lunches. The XYZ boast low turnover rates, and high employee ratings for workplace satisfaction. Instructions: 1. Read the case study and answer all the questions (1-3) Question: 1.
