(Discuss criminal liability of Olver.) no chat gpt please

(united kingdom laws)

Olver "gate-crashed" a party being held by Pedron. Pedron had at first refused him entry, but then Olver shouted, "If you don't open this door, I'll come back with a baseball bat to hit you with." Pedron was shaken up by Olver's aggressive reaction, but decided not to respond and reluctantly let him in. At the party, Olver was approached by a friend, Dagdara, who was in financial difficulties. She owed several thousand pounds on a hire purchase agreement for a luxury motor launch and only last week the engine on the boat burnt out with the cost of repair threatening to be over 4000 which Dagdara could not afford. She therefore decided to destroy the boat and claim its value on the insurance policy. Having approached Olver, Dagdara asked him to help set fire to her boat. At first Olver firmly refused, but after Dagdara promised to pay him 400 for the effort, Olver agreed to burn the motor launch. The motor launch was moored at a marina on a nearby river. In the early hours of next morning, whilst it was still dark, Olver went to the marina carrying a 5-litre can full of petrol. Following Dagdara's instructions, he bent flat a short part of the wire LAW5089 Criminal Law Assessment points 2 and 3 2023-24 fencing adjacent to the locked gate to the marina, to make it appear as if intruders had entered the site. Once on the boat, he proceeded to douse the decking in petrol and set the petrol alight. Jumping on a wooden jetty which the motor launch was fastened to, Olver waited until the fire took hold of the boat, after which he left the marina. An hour later a passer-by noticed the smoke and called for help, but before the fire service arrived the boat was destroyed in the flames.
