Cancer treatments often have side effects, one of each is the induction of sores and/or dryness in the mouth. The Mid-Michigan Medical Center instituted a study in 1999 in which they tested the effects of aloe juice on oral condition. Patients with neck cancer were given aloe juice or a placebo for 6 weeks, and then their oral condition was ranked on a scale of 1-20 by a nurse unfamiliar with the treatments. Higher scores indicate overall better oral condition. (A) What are an appropriate null and alternative statistical hypothesis for this experiment?
