Carefully read Chapter 3.4 entitled "Results." In the chapter Frederic Laloux writes about intrinsic motivation. He states, "In Teal, people switch to intrinsic motivation -- doing what feels right in relation to inner values and assumptions." Whereas in most organizations, extrinsic motivators drive people in all stages prior to the Teal/Evolutionary stage of development. "For Orange, success is often measured in terms of money, profit, and status." Speaking of founders and CEOs of the pioneer companies researched for his book, Laloux writes, " . . . they didn't experiment with new management methods in the hopes of reaping more success. The driving force to invent a new organizational model stemmed from an inner imperative to make a difference, to work in an environment they liked, to act in accordance with their worldview. The traditional way of running organizations simply doesn't make sense to them; it infringes on their values and their own deeply held assumptions about the purpose of work and how people can relate to each other." In my opinion, this switch from extrinsic motivation to intrinsic motivation is the key difference between a person working at the evolutionary/integral/Teal level of development as opposed to all the previous levels of development.

Now think about yourself.

Have you made this switch? In your opinion, why is this switch important or not important? Explain yourself in detail.
