1. Describe the four types of social impact approaches at BD. Give at least one example of each.
2. Discuss the development of the OD device. What barriers did Gary Cohen need to overcome to convince the company to pursue the product and make the necessary investments? How did BD go about developing the business model? What organizations did BD work with?
3. At the end of the case the question is posed, Should BD pursue other shared value investments like the Odon Device that are outside the companys core business areas but address a significant social need? What are your thoughts on this question? Explain your rationale from a business and social impact perspective.
