Case #2: Answer the 4 questions below as either True or False.
Sam has been working at the Carcinoma Tanning Salon for two years and loves the job. When Sam's friend, Holly, asked Sam to help get her a job there, Sam has an excellent working with the salon's manager; and when asked, granted Holly the job without even an interview. The manager told Sam: "If you say Holly is qualified to work here, I have so much confidence in you that your recommendation is all I need to give Holly the job."
At first, Holly and Sam worked different shifts. When they came to share a shift, Sam noticed that Holly would occasionally give a friend a tanning session without charge, something forbidden in the employee policy manual. When Sam confronted Holly because, in taking the job, Holly, like all employees, had signed an agreement to uphold the salon's policies. Holly said the company was making plenty of money and her friends would not come at all without a little encouragement. Holly then claimed that what she was doing was really helping to build business and that the boss was wrong for having a policy against it.
Sam did not know what to do. Sam did not want to blow the whistle on Holly, and cause her to lose her newfound job. On the other hand, Sam felt a sense of responsibility for Holly's behavior in the workplace because Holly obtained the job based on Sam's good reputation.
