Case $4$: The Landscaper's Grass

Text: About a year ago: Harry, the owner of Harry's Landscaping and Lawn Care, has just finished filling out the paperwork to have the wages of one of his worker $-$ George Simpsongarnished to pay back child support. George loved to gamble$--$in fact, he was what some would call a gambling addict. George had gambled away his paycheck and was unable to meet his child

support payments. Harry did not approve of gambling personally $-$ in part because he knew that some people could get "addicted" to it$.$ In fact, Harry's church was opposed to gambling, and that Sunday Harry told this story $($leaving out the names, of course$)$ to his after$-$church coffee and fellowship group. One of his fellow parishioners, who was rather more devout even than Harry, suggested that Harry should "live his values" and fire the employee. Harry argued $-$ quite passionately, in fact $-$ that what his employees do on their own time is their business, so long as they get the job done. In fact, Harry later offered to help George pay for a counseling program for problem gamblers.

This was fairly typical of Harry, who was committed to treating his employees well. He had always treated his employees with respect: he paid better wages and provided better benefits to his employees than any other landscaper in the area. His philosophy was that if he treated his employees well, then they would be more likely to go the extra mile to give the customers top$-$
