PREOPERATIVE DIAGNOSIS: Foreign body granuloma of the nose and scar of dorsum of nose
POSTOPERATIVE DIAGNOSIS: Foreign body granuloma of the nose and scar of dorsum of nose
SURGICAL FINDINGS: There was about a centimeter transverse scar located at about the level of the supratarsal fold, and beneath this there was extensive foreign body reaction extending beneath the procerus muscles over the nasal bone extending, in fact, down into the nasal bone in the nasal frontal angle area. There was extensive involvement of the subcutaneous tissue and the tissue extending all the way down to the nasal bone as mentioned.
PROCEDURE PERFORMED:
A cm complex scar revision, dorsum of the nose
Excision of extensive foreign body granuloma of the nose involving the procerus and nasalis muscles
ANESTHESIA: General endotracheal with approximately cc of Xylocaine with : epinephrine
ESTIMATED BLOOD LOSS: Negligible
COMPLICATIONS: None
SPONGE AND NEEDLE COUNT: Correct
DESCRIPTION OF PROCEDURE: The patient's face was prepped with Betadine scrub and solution and draped in a routine sterile fashion.
