Case Study #1 Review the orientation of the two new employees below. Both are very different. Explain who you think will end up being a better employee and will stay to work for you longer and why? Both are going to work a pub as team members (Bartender, Food Runner, etc)

Employee #1 - Bonnie

When Bonnie gets to the pub for her first shift the lights are off and the front door is locked. She calls the pub to get let in. The manager answers and sounds annoyed, but nonetheless Bonnie continues and goes in for her shift. The manager doesn't really pay any attention to her and just tells her to wait for the next person to come in to show her around. After about 20 minutes someone turns up. They seem friendly enough but also seem stressed out as they need to set up the pub but also train Bonnie. It seems like the manager forgot to put someone on for training Bonnie. There is no uniform ready for her, everything seems to be a waiting game - waiting for the manager to get the uniform, for her to schedule for the rest of the week, etc. It just doesn't seem very welcoming. Bonnie decides to stick it out because even though the manager was not the most welcoming to start the rest of the team seemed very nice even though they seemed stressed. Maybe it was just a bad day.

Employee #2 - Rob

Rob gets to the pub about 10 minutes before his first shift. The door is open and the manager is there waiting for him with a coffee, uniform, shift for the rest of the, etc. She then takes him on a quick tour of the pub and shows him where he can change and leave his stuff. Once, he's changed his training buddy is there waiting for him. He is partnered up with him for the day in order to show Rob how everything works, and where everything is (from cutlery to fire exits). The team is super friendly and welcoming. Before he finishes his shift, the manager has lunch with him and gets to know him a bit more, she verifies the shifts she's given him are ok and makes him feel very welcome to be part of the team. When Rob leaves, he feels happy and excited to come back to work the next day.
