Case Study #2 Mosi Tatupu was in a car accident. He arrived at the 5 points emergency room unconscious with life threatening internal injuries and a badly mangled hand that was not life threatening. While in surgery to repair the internal injuries the doctors also removed two fingers from the injured hand that they judged to be not recoverable. Mr. Tatupu was a concert violinist and the loss of the fingers ended his career. He sued the doctors and the hospital.
