Purpose: Case studies provide us with the opportunity to examine situations taken from real life and use them for learning purposes. Using real examples of situations provides us with vicarious opportunities to think about how we would handle such situations if we were in them.

In this project , you will come up a case study taken from your own experience and provide an

alternate ending/resolution that is more inclusive of everyone involved. This provides you with the

opportunity to rethink a real situation and apply your learning in a real context.

Course Learning Outcomes Addressed through this Assignment:

? Analyze the changing nature of the 21st century workplace.

? Examine various models of leadership and their evolution through time.

? Identify the required skills, knowledge, and attitudes for effective leadership.

? Reflect on personal values and beliefs in relation to leadership.

Case Study - What you need to do:

In this project, you and your study buddy will choose a real-life experience (e.g. family, school, a job, other??) with a 'leader' where things did not work out as well as they might. Our focus is on inclusion so you should consider choosing a situation for your case where someone in a leader role missed an opportunity for an inclusive working/learning environment. You will explain the situation as a case study and then write a new ending or resolution in which the person in the leadership position used different behaviours/practices (taken from the OLF - Ontario Leadership Framework) that lend

themselves to increased inclusion.

Case Study - What you need to include:

Part 1- The Original Case

? A detailed description or explanation of the situation including the outcome/result

Part 2 - The Revised Case

? A detailed explanation of how the situation could have been dealt with or resolved in a way that

is more inclusive.

? Be sure to make direct references to the practices of the OLF (Ontario Leadership Framework) as discussed in class.

Part 3 - Conclusion

? A brief commentary on the specific leader behaviours / practices that can lead to more inclusive

outcomes.

? A personal connection to your own leadership practices relative to this case (i.e. How might you

respond in such a situation? Is this natural for you to do? What might you need to learn in

order to use such leadership practices? )
