Case Study Background Congratulations, you had a good first year as a supervisor and are preparing to meet with your department manager, Aisha, to review some issues. In preparation for the meeting, Aisha has asked you to pull together documentation related to managing conflict, evaluating performance, and motivating team members. You are currently dealing with some situations that you would like to discuss with your manager when you meet. Drawing on what you have learned in the course, provide answers on how you might address the following situations by completing each question in the template below. Managing Conflict As you recall, your first hire was Jamie. You paired Jamie with John to help her get acclimated and provide some on-the-job training as he is one of the most experienced representatives on the team. Jamie was a quick study and caught on quickly and was excelling. As she was eager to make a good impression, Jamie took on some of John's work. After a little while, Jamie felt that John was taking advantage of her as he gave her his work to do and told you that Jamie needed more guidance.Evaluating Performance John has a good attitude and a decent knowledge of the company's products and process. He is on time and works well with others for the most part. John has had issues with passing his work off to others to lighten his workload, which is not helping the team and has caused some conflict. His call time is shorter than most representatives and when he has a project assigned to him, he submits the final project with help from at least one co-worker. He is often submitting work after the due date.Motivating Employees You and John worked together for several years before you became a supervisor. You never heard anything negative about John or his performance, and John seems to be well-liked by his co-workers. You know that John has submitted applications for open supervisor roles over the years and has not been promoted. Now that you are John's supervisor, you have seen a lack of effort in John's work and are trying to determine the best way to motivate John and increase his productivity. John has stated several times that the opportunities to become a supervisor seem out of reach and it is frustrating
