Case study - Case study - Staff performance issues Adriana, a new member of staff in an ALBANIAN Consultancy firm (ABC shpk) has just returned to work after taking special leave to deal with her elderly mother. To meet her obligations, she needs to work in the firm on full-time basis. Nevertheless, during this period she has been having some difficulties with her mothers home care arrangements, and because of not coming in time in the office, she has missed several team meetings, which usually are taking place at the beginning of each day. In addition to coming late in the office, for the same reason (i.e., to take care for her mother) she also has been obliged to leave the work earlier. Although she is very competent in her work, her recent absences have creating some difficulties and putting some pressure on her and on her colleagues too, who have been obliged to overwork during this time. Artani, who is Adriana`s manager, is aware that the recent flow of work through the firm is coming under pressure. However, Edmond, one of Adriana`s male colleagues is beginning to make some comments such as a womans place is in the home, and in this way is undermining Adriana at every opportunity, putting her under even greater stress.
