On 18 May 2024 four construction workers were confirmed dead and two more are still
buried under the ground after an embankment collapsed at a construction site in Ballito,
KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday morning construction worker who was trapped beneath tons of
soil for hours the result of a massive landslide at a worksite in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal was
found alive on Saturday afternoon. Medics worked had to free him as he was still trapped.
Four other men died in the accident in which parts of a hillside collapsed in Zen Drive in the
coastal hamlet.
IPPS Medical Rescue Services spokesperson Samantha Meyrick said they were conducting
the search with other agencies, but the mission had to be called off due to multiple collapses
