Case Study No. 6 The case of the Missing NIS contributions MP a security guard has worked for a number of years for a prominent bauxite company. Being a prudent individual MP kept all of his pay slips and any contract, records, and letters associated with his employment at the company. Monies are taken out of MPs salary each month for NIS contributions and this is reflected on MPs pay slip. MP is nearing retirement and decided to visit the NATIONAL INSURANCE SCHEME to get an update on his contributions since he is of the firm belief that he has surpassed the statutory requirement based on the number of years he has worked. To MPs dismay, NIS notifies him that the company has not for a number of years deposited contributions on his behalf. MP hires an Attorney who requests a print of his records from NIS. NIS refuses to disclose the same citing confidentiality issues. Advise all parties involved.
