CAMH is a hospital that provides psychological services to patients interacting with the Canadian justice system. Patients at CAMH are sent there to rehabilitate and reenter society.

Based on CAMH's research, many Canadians hold a negative view of people with mental illnesses. Furthermore, it is unclear for many Canadians whether it is possible to rehabilitate from a mental illness once a person has committed a crime.

Unfortunately for CAMH, there was a series of incidents in 2021 where three patients departed from their rehabilitation while out in the community on a pass. These separate incidents upset community members, politicians, and the media. Due to this, it became clear that CAMH had some work to do in educating the stakeholders about its purpose.
