Case#1 You tell your supervisor that you are taking a communication class. The supervisor begins to rant and rave that people always say she is a poor listener. She asks you for your opinion and then goes to her computer and begins to answer emails. Using information from this chapter, describe the listening barriers evident in this example. Additionally, give your supervisor three specific suggestions for improving her listening style.

Case #2 A friend, who is also a classmate, is talking with you about some challenges he is having on the job. His grades have been affected by the situation at work. He goes on to suggest that the stress is taking a toll on his personal life, too. Based on what you have learned from this chapter, identify five behaviors that would show that you are an empathic listener.

Case #3 Create a memo from you to me (Professor J. Jhon) following proper memo format. The memo should be in an essay format in which each case is analyzed, and you provide answers to the questions posed for each case.

Answers should be not in question and answer format. You have the option of creating two different memos or incorporating the cases into one memo.
