Change Management Scenario 2 Scenario 2: Leaders Role Instructions: 1. Read the Scenario section below to understand your role and what you will be discussing. 2. Once you have read through the prompts, start the role play. Scenario: A significant IT systems change has just been announced to the organization. You lead a team of five. Although you have been aware of the change for several weeks, your team learned the details of the change last week via an email from the CIO. Since this change will significantly impact the way your staff does their jobs, you held a focus group to allow your staff to express their concerns and ask questions. The focus group was positive overall, but you are worried about the reaction of one employee in particular, who has been in this role for two years and did not participate in the focus group discussions or subsequent opportunities to provide feedback. Furthermore, the employee has seemed distracted when working on projects associated with the change. You have scheduled a one-on-one meeting with them to understand if there is a problem. Use the tactics discussed in todays session to try to determine what the problem is and how you can solve it. Use the following key messages from senior leadership regarding the change, if needed: o This is a long overdue change that will significantly streamline your day-to-day tasks to allow you to work more efficiently and complete more tasks. o The new technology is being implemented to help employees and increase their productivity, not to replace current employees: there are no reductions planned as a result of this change. o We are very willing to hear your feedback so that we can make the transition to the new software as smooth and pain-free as possible.

Change Management Scenario 2 Scenario 2: Employees Role Instructions: 1. Read the Scenario section below to understand your role and what you will be discussing. 2. Once you have read through the prompts, start the role play. 3. Your change reaction is detachment. Scenario: You are an employee who has been with the organization for approximately two years on a team of five. A large IT software change was announced from senior leadership last week that will significantly impact your day-to-day tasks. Your team has had a few different opportunities to provide feedback on the announced change since then (focus group, survey) but you did not actively participate. You have no particular problem with the change that has been announced, but you have been dealing with personal issues for the past few weeks and havent had the mental or emotional capacity to deal with the changes at this point in time. You were prepared to continue to work while dealing with your personal issues, but the newly announced change has resulted in one more thing to think about that you just dont want to deal with right now. Furthermore, you have no motivation to engage with the change since your old tasks take up a large portion of your time already and your performance is measured solely on those old tasks

its a role play so i need content - I need dialogues of the conversation between the leader and the employee both.
