1. Describe the systems concept in evaluating an information system. Explain why the use of this concept is or is not important in moving St. Rita's toward the EHR.
2. What do you believe were the major drivers in the evolution toward the EHR? Are these the same drivers that are fueling the momentum for the EHR today? How are these drivers going to impact the work of the EIM Team?
3. Assess the characteristics of an EHR that make it more than automation of a paper health record. Prepare a list of these characteristics the EIM Team could use in assessing their progress in achieving the IOM vision.
4. Do you agree with Shirlee that best-of-breed system implementation was a significant contributor to the data problems at St. Rita's? Elaborate on what you would add to this discussion if you were on the EIM team.
5. Assess the challenges facing St. Rita's in achieving the IOM's vision of an EHR. Prioritize these from least to most challenging and prepare an outline of your rationale for the EIM Team
