Each research project we are involved in aims to improve the ways in which people with disability are supported to lead empowered and enriched lives.

Scope's research priorities are identified in the 2019-2022 Research Plan.This plan outlines ouremphasis on researchingoutcomes associated with service provision, inclusion of people with disability in the community, and health and well-being.
The research program is strongly connected to Scope's practice as an organisation - this meansit informs, and is informed by, service provision. Scope is involved in research in various ways including conducting its own research, collaborating with others and supporting the research of others.
Questions based on SCOPE AUSTRALIA
1. You are to research information about compliance and ethical practice responsibilities, and then develop and monitor policies and procedures to meet those responsibilities. To do this you will need to choose an organisation that you either work for or would like to work for and complete the following tasks: a. Identify and research the information they would need for legal compliance. Please write a short report on the compliance information and a summary of each one including penalties and consequences for non-compliance. b. Identify any specialist advice that may need to be sought. c. Research and discuss the ethical responsibilities involved in this organisation including: The ethical framework that applies Scope of practice considerations Responsibilities of workers, clients and the broader community d. Discuss the types of actions you could perform that would model ethical behaviour for others.
2. You are to complete the following activities for the organisation you chose above including: a. Develop a full set of policies and procedures relevant to the organisation in relation to managing compliance and ethical practice in both internal work practice and external service delivery. Please ensure you allocate a section in your procedures for protecting client information. Then discuss the methods you would use to distribute these policies, procedures and legal information to colleagues and peers and the timelines for delivery. b. Develop a strategic response to at least 3 different situations where legal or ethical requirements could be breached and identify control measures to ensure this will not happen in the future.
3. You are to discuss the following points in detail: a. What methods would you use to ensure you maintained knowledge of current and emerging legal requirements and ethical issues. Please note how often you would undertake this action. b. Choose 1 legal requirement and 1 ethical requirement and prepare a presentation for other group members educating them on your new found knowledge. Please submit all information used in your presentation for assessment. This section is to be used as part of your observation activity. c. Then discuss how you would go about reviewing compliance requirements in this organisation including: How often review will be performed Who will undertake the review d. Once these tasks have been completed you will need to submit all your documentation for assessment.
