Coding Emergency Room visits was Melissas favorite type of coding. She in fact was the department expert whenever a fellow coder had ER coding questions for her. She felt very sure of her level of expertise and knowledge until Jamie started to work in her department. Jamie was a new graduate with her RHIT credential. Melissa was excited to have Jamie join the team, but after two weeks of working with Jamie, Melissa's excitement quickly waned. In fact, Melissa felt defensive whenever Jamie asked her questions about basic coding rules. She never had this problem with other staff before, why is she having problems now? Melissa decided to talk with her manager, Maria to see what could be done.
