Cheep Skate Manufacturing (Pty) Ltd is experiencing cash flow difficulties. The company who usually removes their toxic waste for them has announced a 50% price hike which they just can not afford. The waste has been building up for a number of months and will cost R1million to dispose of through the existing supplier. This will likely cause the company to close with a resultant loss of 50 jobs, not taking into account your own personal loss. Mr Bloggs has offered to dispose of the material at a cost of R50 000, but you are aware that he does not have the relevant licence and suspect that he is dumping the waste illegally where it will harm the environment and possibly people living in a nearby informal settlement. He has assured you that no harm will be done and that there is just an administrative delay in his obtaining the relevant licence. As the CEO, you are forced to make this very serious decision as the toxic waste needs to be removed from your property before the local municipality does an inspection and your company is fined and shut down.
