Child Mortality and Total Fertility Rate Child mortality is the number of newborns that die before reaching the age of 5. It includes babies that die right before or during birth as well as the deaths of young children. It is reported as a percentage of the total children in that age group (0-5). In this section, we will investigate the relationship between child mortality and family size. Open up the Excel file "The Story of Human Population data" and type your name on the top line.
