A. Introduction The Malaysian climate is categorised as a tropical rainforest climate where the temperature averages at 31C. However this temperature could reach as high as 40C. When temperatures reach this high the usage of the Air Conditioning unit (AC) also increases. This increases power consumption which results in a high electricity bill. The AC is designed to remove heat in a closed space. As the AC removes heat, some heat always manages to enter the closed space. Furthermore within the close space there will be bodies which emit heat energy. Thus if the heat entrance and emission is minimised both power consumption and electricity cost could be reduced. B. Assignment Question In this assignment, you are required to perform energy analysis of the selected airconditioned space in APU. The analysis must take in to account all factors of heat transfer. Upon completing the energy analysis, you are required to investigate the methods that can be used to reduce heat transfer into the selected space and recommend possible steps that can be taken to reduce the mentioned heat transfer. 1. The investigation is expected to show various method with its technical details. The recommendation should outline how the suitable method is identified. An energy analysis is then performed again with the recommendations to confirm the effectiveness of the solution. 2. Calculate the cost savings if the recommendations were to be implemented. Finally conclude if the recommendations are worth implementing
