This lab builds on that knowledge by creating a mixed circuit and using Kirchhoff's Laws to analyze what the voltage and current is at various points in the circuit. Choose three of the resistors and build a simple circuit as above. The resistors will obviously be of a different value than above, and hence there will be different current and voltage at points A through G. For each location, show the calculations and verify them with the multimeter. To "walk-through\" the circuit mathematically, use Kirchhoff's Laws and find the current and voltage at each point. Kirchhoff's Voltage Law states that \"in any closed loop network, the total voltage around the loop is equal to the sum of all the voltage drops within the same loop\" which is also equal to zero. In other words, the algebraic sum of all voltages within the loop must be equal to zero. Kirchhoff's Current Law states that, for any node (junction) in an electrical circuit, the sum of currents flowing into that node is equal to the sum of currents flowing out of that node; or equivalently: the algebraic sum of currents in a network of conductors meeting at a point is zero. This can be stated in another way as Kirchhoff's Junction Law, which states that when current reaches a junction, the current of these branching stems must add up to the current coming into it. Applying the above, in a series circuit the voltage will drop through resistance, but the current will stay the same; in a parallel circuit the voltage is the same, but the current is split/shared at each juncture based on resistor strength. lVerify the voltage calculated by touching the multimeter probes to either side of the point chosen. To verify the current at each point, break into the circuit and connect the multimeter in series with the rest of the components. Content and Analysis 1. Methodology a. Draw a parallel and series circuit in the same configuration as seen in the introduction, using three of the resistors and the AAA battery. Report this as per the teacher's instructions. b. State the methodology for this lab how this circuit is built and the multimeter is used to test the circuit values at each location. Be specific. 2. Data Collection - Report the values of resistors used in the circuit. 3. Data Analysis Do a \"walk-through\" of the circuit, showing the voltage and current at points A through 6. Verify this with the multimeter (the instructor may ask for verification by submitting pictures). Show all calculations, and report as per the instructor. 4. Conclusion State the accuracy of the circuit, as a percent variance between theory (through Kirchhoff's Laws) and the readings acquired through the multimeter. 5. Caveats State what might be the reasons for the errors above, and perhaps suggest other equipment or procedures that would increase accuracy
