1. Informal Conference Scenario: The mother of one of your students shows up at the classroom door five minutes before class begins. This parent wants to know the grade that her son has in your class and wants to explain why her son will not be taking today's spelling test with the rest of the class later that day. Due to his baseball practice, and the dog having to be rushed to the veterinarian last night, he was unable to study. How would you respond to this parent?
2. Formal Conference Scenario: After you share with Cami's dad that she is a bright student, who is doing well in your class, you let him know that she hasn't been turning in her homework or participating in group work. You let him know that on the most recent project, she received a "C" because she did not contribute as much as the rest of the members of her group. Cami's dad says that he believes homework is a waste of time and that Cami should not be forced to work in a group with Olivia because they haven't gotten along since preschool. He asks that his daughter be given another opportunity to do the assignment. How would you respond to this parent?
