Cleanie Wombat Cleanie Wombat is a small Australian company that makes cleaning products. The chemical formulas used for its products were developed through R&D conducted by the company's small R&D unit in Sydney, Australia. The company has not filed for any type of patent protection on the chemical formulas used for its products. In addition to other staff, the company's R&D unit employs two interns every year that have studied chemical engineering. The interns are required to sign a confidentiality agreement and a non-compete agreement for governing their activities in any country in the world two years after they leave Cleanie Wombat. They are unpaid, worked long hours, and are not treated well by the head of the R&D unit. No background check is conducted on them before they join Cleanie Wombat. A few months ago, Cleanie Wombat discovered that one of the interns it formerly employed nicknamed "Rambo" started his own company. During his time working at Cleanie Wombat, Rambo (who used to be a PhD student in Sydney) had played an important role in helping discover several of the chemical formulas that are used in Cleanie Wombat's best-selling cleaning products. One year after leaving Cleanie Wombat, Rambo started his own cleaning product company, called "Nugyen Cleanie", in Vietnam. Nugyen Cleanie sells the exact same cleaning products that were produced by Cleanie Wombat but markets them under the name "Nugyen Cleanie" and uses a substantially different logo and packaging for the products. Nugyen Cleanie's products are sold in Vietnam and are also exported to a variety of other countries, including China, Australia, Malaysia, amongst others. There are court documents in Australia indicating that Rambo engaged in a similar type of operation in Vietnam, based on the trade secrets of another Australian firm he previously interned for, named Sweaky Mate.
