This is an otherwise good employee with whom you have had a couple of brief, informal conversations over the last month about the late and incorrect reports. The problem has not been corrected and continues to have a negative effect on the overall productivity of your department. You have decided that it is now time to have a serious discussion about this employee's need to improve. You want to use a collaborative approach with the employee to arrive at a mutually agreeable resolution of the performance issue. Assignment Using Bolton's six-step collaboration model, prepare some brief notes for a collaborative meeting with your employee. Include examples of the types of things you will say during the meeting and identify the skills you will need to use throughout the meeting to achieve your goal. Bolton's 6 steps hypothetical situation notes 1. Define the problem in terms of needs not solutions I need to identify the reason behind my employee's incomplete reports. I need information about the conflict before I begin to think about solutions. I need to understand the environment and the point of view of my employee. In other words, I need to find out why the employee wants to turn in his reports late and incomplete. The conflict that exists is that I rely on these reports weekly to keep me updated, but my employee is not completing the reports on time and submitting them incomplete. I need to be assertive of my needs and then be an active listener to my employee's needs. I can begin by asking the following questions and stating the following : \"Are you aware that I have been receiving your reports late and incomplete?\" \"I need these reports on time and complete in order to remain informed and up-to-date\" \"Can you help me understand the situation that arose that led to these incomplete and late reports?\" 2. Brainstorm possible solutions Now that we understand each other's needs. We need to mutually brainstorm how we can possibly solve the conflict. Our ideas need to be given without filter and focus on quantity rather than quality. If I disvalue any suggestion, I may negatively affect his willingness to share and cut down on creative solutions that I otherwise would not have been able to come up with on my own. If one idea seems general, it is acceptable to expand on it. I need to make sure I consider and list every idea we come up with. When the list is being generated, I need to be careful not to segregate his ideas from my ideas. I need to avoid saying \"No\
