Dear Justin Trudeau:

Canada's governments have become the largest legal purchasers of marijuana in the world. Since the legalization of marijuana for medical use, marijuana use has increased rather than being reduced which led to increased rates of addiction in youth and young adults.

When a person uses marijuana, the THC found in the marijuana plants, passes from the lungs (by smoking) into the bloodstream. The THC is carried through the bloodstream, into the brain where it acts on specific THC receptors. These receptors are found in areas of the brain like concentration, thinking, sensory, pleasure, memory, and coordination. The reason that people feel high is due to the THC that is in their bloodstream. This is a problem because over time, THC can develop in the cortex region in the brains of people younger than twenty-five. These people are mostly teenagers that are still growing, exploring and taking risks in their life. Smoking marijuana is one of the risky behaviours that can have harmful and long lasting effects on a teenager's health.

Nevertheless, I am extremely unsatisfied of marijuana legalization in Canada. It could affect the teen and young adults' well being for a long time and it is quite robust for this age compared to people in middle age. When we talk in our community about how harmful marijuana is for our teenagers, we decided to send this letter to you and request to resolve this problem. This can be done by not having marijuana accessible in public stores and instead, only have it accessible for people in need with medical concerns.
