Change is a constant in today's world. To lead through change, many leaders use adaptive leadership. With adaptive leadership, the leader is focused on helping their followers adapt to the changes they face. Adaptive leadership theory recommends six behaviors leaders can use to help their followers adjust to the change. As listed in Figure 11.1 and explained in Chapter 11 in the text, these actions are: Get on the balcony Identify adaptive challenges Regulate distress Maintain disciplined attention Give the work back to the people Protect leadership voices from below
