There were a lot of fictional characters that may portray mental disorders. and the one I ended up landing was Bojack horseman. This show is zoned in on the struggles that Bojack faces. However the most important struggle is depression. This show is very deep and can hit people who relate the hardest. The reason why his depression is so hard is because everyone else in his life thinks that he may be over reacting and some even yell at him stating that he had it so good that he shouldn't be complaining. This however can worsen his disorder because he now is hard on himself for not being grateful. He has many quotes that support the fact that he is suffering. For example, "The key to being happy isn't to search for meaning. It's to keep yourself busy with unimportant nonsense, and eventually you'll be dead." This quote can show how hopeless he is and that he has given up in a way. Another is, "you know, sometimes I feel like I was born with a leak, and any goodness I started with just slowly spilled out of me, and now it's all gone. And I'll never get it back in me. It's too late." This quote hits very hard for some people. Bojack though very successful has yet to find anything that will fill him with happiness. Instead he has convinced himself that it will never happen. Bojack is misunderstood by a lot of people close to him when he is just suffering in silence.
