Communication is the ultimate way to help identify any key elements. Agreed-upon goals in an individual development plan helps both the mentee and mentor in seeing the small and big picture of what they want to accomplish. As a mentor I will help identify my mentees key elements by going over with her what she is wanting to accomplish at the end of this. As a result on what she says will assist me in adding timelines and deadlines. "Having an individual development plan helps to keep everyone on track and motivated in achieving goals" (CPD, 2020, p. 1). "An individual development plan should be customized to the specific needs and desires, and it should be updated on a regular basis to reflect current progress" (CPD, 2020, p. 1)
