Company ABC that trades stocks as part of its business has two locations: one in NYC and one in Chicago. These two locations are connected using a WAN link with a transmission rate of 6 Mbps. Refer to the network diagram provided with the quiz. A business critical stock application, (Stock Streamer), runs on a server connected to the LAN at the NYC office. The trader employees use the Stock Streamer application during business hours and this application uses 2 Mbps of bandwidth for each trader while it is running. Initially, (as depicted in the diagram), there are (2) traders in NYC and (2) in Chicago. Due to business growth the CEO hires (3) more traders in both NYC and Chicago. Dave is the IT support staff member that sits in NYC right next to the traders. On the very first day the additional traders start using the Stock Streamer application the traders in NYC complain to Dave that the application is running real slow. Keep in mind that all PCs connect to the LAN at 100 Mbps. Dave runs down to the server room and discovers that the server has a network connection that supports 10 Mbps/100 Mbps or 1000 Mbps and it is set on 10 Mbps. He quickly changes the server to use 1000 Mbps. He goes back upstairs and thinks he has solved the performance problem because the traders in NYC tell him that everything is running fast again.
Explain why you think Dave still has a network bottleneck problem?
For the network bottleneck, compute the minimum amount of bandwidth increase that is required to resolve the bottleneck.
