- Compare and contrast Cracker Barrel and Chick-fil-A. How are these two situations similar and how are they different?
Cracker barrel and Chick-fil-A have both openly and covertly discriminated against various groups, including the LGBTQIA community. However, there is a slight difference between how each restaurant chooses to implement their discrimination towards these communities. The Cracker Barrel had years of discrimination towards employees and individuals within the LGBTQIA community. They integrated their discrimination tactics into their hiring, promotions, firing, and their overall business structure. Whereas, Chick-fil-A is more covert with their practices as well as more vocal via their leadership. The company remains private to allow from them to monitor and control who obtains access to their product and business. Corporate retains ownership so they can be selective on who is granted a franchise. They owner opening comments and support anti-LGBT stances.

Separate from Chick-fil-a, I do believe that the owner should align themselves and their business with organizations that reflect their stances, viewpoints, and beliefs thus allowing me to choose whether I would like to patronize these establishments. Chick-fil-a knew they would alienate many people and chose to proceed forward.

Social media has allowed for the Chick-fil-A's message and political stance to be more well known. People are both invested in the growth and downfall of Chick-fil-A.. Their consumer base is able to hold them accountable to how they treat and pay their staff. Chick-fil-A's supporters, including ex- Presidential candidate, understands their influence social media like Facebook, and utilized it to organize. They COO's shared his views and people allowing them to decide whether they want to continue to patronize the organization despite not truly being welcomed,
- Why was the Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day event so successful and the Cracker Barrel boycott not assuccessful?
Chick-fil-A's Appreciation Day because it was well market to bring supporters of Chick-fil-A rather than voice valid complaints. Additionally, the company distanced itself from it issues rather than attempting to justify their stance.
