Activity 3: Jig Saw

Teams become experts in one type of bonding - ionic, covalent, hydrogen, or phosphordiasterase

Use the internet and library to research the type of bond assigned.

Once the team is sure all members understand what the bond is, where it occurs, how it occurs, and how strong it is, teams rearrange so that there is one member from each original team making up a new team. New members take turns teaching other members about their particular bonding.

Teams return to their original team and work together to make a poster of a strength line with the different types of bonds, indicating which one is the strongest and which is the weakest and where others fall on the line in between.

Display posters and compare them. Discuss bond strength.
