Computer power users sometimes discuss the benefits of the various operating systems against one another. Some users take an agnostic approach and have no real preference. Others are passionate fans of one system and insist upon its superiority over all others. Forensic investigators do not get to choose what kind of operating system they conduct their investigations upon. However, that does not mean that they may not have a preference as well. You will consider the difference an operating system makes on a forensic investigation. - Discuss whether and in what ways it is easier to perform a computer forensic investigation if the suspects computer is a Linux or Unix system instead of Windows. - Discuss whether the operating system matters at all to the investigation, taking into consideration the full variety of Linux/Unix and Windows systems.
