Computing earliest start and finish times. Consider the word processes of an IT company that is responsible for developing an e-commerce website for a client. Estimated times for each stage in the (pre-implementation) client engagement process:

Total time=11 Important Note in this process the stages are all sequential, meaning that it is necessary that each activity occurs in the order listed, one stage after the other. None of these stages / activities can be achieved concurrently. Each activity only has a single immediate predecessor. The start has no predecessors, so its Earliest Start (ES) time=0 (zero). Because its activity time = 0, the Earliest Finish (EF) time of Start also = 0. Activity A has Start as its only predecessor (which we know has both an ES and EF that equal 0; so the ES of Activity A= Max [EF of all immediate predecessors], which equals 0. Required: 1 Draw an Activity On Node (AON) Network Diagram which reflects the above range of work activity. 2 Calculate and tabulate the ES and EF of each of the above Activities using the formula, respectively: ES=Max [EF of all immediate predecessors] EF=[ES+Activity Time]? Note it is already established that the ES Activity A=0 (zero)

3 calculate and tabulate the Latest Finish Time (LF) and Earliest Finish Time (EF) each of the above Activities using the formula, respectively: LF = Min [LS of all immediate following activities] LS = LF-Activities Time Assumption applied: it is already established that the LF for Activity F = 10 weeks. That is, Latest Finish Time (LF) i.e. the deadline set for this Activity is the same as its Earliest Finish Time (EF), which equals 0 (zero). 4 Calculate and tabulate the Slack Time for each Activity defined in the above client engagement process. Using the formula: slack= LS- ES, calculate the Slack for each of the Activities: A to F. 5 If your calculated Slack resulted in a negative number, what does this mean? What LS calculated values would need to exist for this client engagement process to track according to its Critical Path? 6 Explain what the most critical consideration is when it comes to setting a Critical Path, and included in your explanation describe the implications of setting a Critical Path which involves assigning timeframes to activities that are known to be less than known standard start and finish times for the type of project / activities that you are concerned with. (at least 180 words.) 7 Calculate the Cost of Crashing the prescribed client engagement process.
