Computing

Please download traceroute and ping, or use your own Un*x-like (e.g. Linux or MacOs) machine.

The programming may be done either in Java or C/C++.

ping and traceroute

Starting from either your own machine or the CDM Linux machines (e.g. 140.192.36.186) use traceroute to show the hops that packets take from that machine to:

a. Joe's virtual server: cdmcscjpprd01.dpu.depaul.edu

b.www.uchicago.edu

c. www.stanford.edu

d. www.kyoto-u.ac.jp (Kyoto University)

Use the following command to limit the maximum number of hops: $ traceroute -m 12 On Windows, traceroute is called tracert.
