Conduct a workplace inspection

Select an area/ section at your workplace for conducting a workplace inspection and complete using a workplace inspection/ H&S Reps inspection checklist. Take pictures as far as possible for inclusion in your final product. Where you do not have access to a workplace, you may inspect a section of your home.

Completed workplace/ H&S Reps inspection checklist.

Note:

You may use the monthly inspection checklist used at your workplace. Alternately you may source a suitable checklist from the internet or draw one up on your own.

Your checklist should document the area/ section and the date on which you conducted the exercise.

You should, as far as possible, include pictures in your checklist. You may incorporate the pictures directly into the checklist or include them as annexures. Where pictures have been included as an annexure, they should be properly referenced in relation to the checklist.

There should be space for comments in your checklist and you should ensure that you sign it off after completion. The sign-off section should include your name and initials and date of sign-off and there should be a section in which the Chairperson of the Health and Safety Committee would be required to countersign the checklist.
