Consider a scenario where you are working for a large company which has just deployed a video conference system throughout the organisation. The video conference system includes both hardware (dedicated units) and software connection options (like Teams). For video conferences between two parties, peer-to-peer communication is used, while client-server communication is used where three or more parties are connected. To support the additional bandwidth required to support the new service, the network has been expanded to ensure adequate capacity was available, provisioned in the form of a dedicated VLAN for the hardware units and expanded capacity in links connecting the different components of the company's network, and this expanded capacity has been tested to verify it is adequate for the company's needs. On the first day the system has gone live, it has been discovered that connections between the hardware units and software connections are not working.
