1. Grace informs the police that her diamond necklace has been stolen. PC 2112 apprehends the thief and returns the necklace to Grace, who thereupon, promises to pay the constable £500 as a reward for his services. Grace subsequently refuses to pay.

 

2. In response to an appeal for funds, Syd writes to the vicar of his local church promising to remit to him the sum of £150 per month for three years.

 

3. On the retirement of his gardener, Gomez promised to pay him a pension of £100 per week. 

 

4. Keith promised his National Health doctor £200 in return for the doctor's promise to see that Keith got all the medical attention he needed.
