Only Alice knows kprivA and only Bob knows kB priv- kpubA and kpubB are publicly known. rBs a random number generated by Alice so she can check for freshness in the reply she receives from Bob Alice (the sender) wants to provide both confidentiality and Data Origin Authentication to her message m, so she performs the following and sends the output, y, to Bob over a public channel: y=EkpB(mH(m)) EkpabB(x) represents the public-key encryption of a message x with public-key of kBpub using encryption algorithm E; H(x) represents the cryptographic Hash of the message x using hash function H; and x1x2 represents simple concatenation (appending) of the two messages x1 and x2 together.
