It's definitely attractive, the moon and the earth are both really massive objects so the interaction is strong, and Newton's 3rd Law says that both feel forces towards the other. But why do we say that the moon orbits the earth? Why don't we say that the earth orbits the moon? O Since the earth is actually MUCH more massive than the moon, even though the earth and the moon feel the same strength of force, the earth's very much larger mass just doesn't accelerate as much as the moon. So it's the moon that does MOST of the orbiting. The earth actually wobbles a little bit and does a really small orbit. O Actually, the earth is STUCK in its elliptical orbit and cannot have an orbit with the moon. This is because the Sun's gravity interaction with the earth is so strong!
