Module 3 Propose Draft Project

  • No matter what you have been told in other courses, here you are NOT presenting to entertain; you are presenting to inform!
  • Each slide must be sufficiently descriptive,
    • Please use bullet points for text.
    • Provide captions for any pictures, images or graphs.
  • In addition, submit a MS Project file with WBS and schedule including 30 - 35 Major Activities as appropriate.
    • You may group the Activities into (say) half a dozen groups; the groups may be defined with Nouns.
    • The Activities must be defined with VERBS. No 'ing words' or nouns, please.

General guidance

  • This report constitutes the project's preliminary business case.Provide preliminary information about your project, including research completed so far.
  • You need to know enough about the technical requirements to have a conversation with the 'experts'.
  • You are expected to 'speak the language of Finance' in order to justify your project.
  • Your presentation MUST include suitable references which the instructor can independently verify. Cite them on each slide, please.
  • The presentation must stand-alone. Details must be similar to the MS Project File details.

  • Executive Summary: Summarize the entire presentation on one page (or two). The categories in the Business Model Canvas (Module 3) could be an Executive Summary.
  • Project Changes: as provided by instructor (or live client) in previous feedback and meetings
  • Company description: the organization completing the project
  • Industry description: industry in which the organization operates
  • Project Objectives
    • Innovation: What is the product,
    • service
    • technology or process to be created and delivered?
    • Marketing: How will the outcome of the project meet market needs, and how will the project be communicated?
  • Expected Benefits upon and after project completion
    • Economic value
    • Social benefit
    • Environmental accountability
  • Preliminary project cash flows, to the extent they are available so far
  • Preliminary stakeholder register
    • Primary stakeholders in your project
    • Their potential needs
    • What you require from them
  • Required resources for the project
    • People: including how many, and
    • what roles they perform (include approval roles)
    • Property, plant & equipment: all physical requirements
    • Time
    • Funding
  • Preliminary description of any technology to be purchased, built or applied
    • Buildings,
    • structures,
    • equipment,
    • machinery,
    • software & hardware, etc.
  • Work Breakdown Structure and Schedule
    • This can be shown as a Table with the WBS summary tasks from your MS Project file
