Corporate Responsibility (CR) is a form of corporate self-regulation that helps a company to maintain active compliance with the law, ethical standards, and norms. CR strategies encourage the company to make a positive impact on the environment and stakeholders including customers, employees, investors, communities, and others. "Customers" could be business customers buying from a company ("B2B"), or consumers buying from the company ("B2C") ... or both.

  • Select a company (domestic or international) that will be the basis for your research.

  • Research the company's "track record" in the area of CR. Be sure to look at both their domestic as well as international reputation. ("Track Record" refers to the company's past performance, achievements, or failures.)

  1. Complete a written report that contains the following information (7 marks):
  • A brief (one-paragraph) summary of the business you selected
  • A "rank" or "grade" for the company's CR track record. Your focus here should be on the company's "CR" reputation, not the company's "general" reputation which is much broader (ie: general reputation includes other concepts such as the company's ability to make consistent profits, etc.). Be sure to provide a source for the CR ranking or grade you give (ie. a resource you used to help you determine your ranking)
  • A description of one specific example of a corporate action that made a significant impact on this company'sranking (be sure to include how this action impacted the company's ranking)
  • As a customer (business customer, consumer, or both), how would this company's approach to CR influence customer purchasing decisions?

  1. It isvital to remember that data is meant to inform decision-making within a company. The biggest role of collecting, analyzing, and using data is to make better decisions across an organization. (3 marks)
  • For the company you chose, provide one example of data the company uses and explain how they currently use it (or could use it) to make better CR decisions
