3.2 Discharge velocity of a tank Consider a tank filled with acetone equipped with an outlet pipe and a butterfly-valve as shown in the figure on the left. We wish to have a discharge velocity of 1.6m/s at point 2 . Calculate the fill height in the tank required to produce this discharge velocity. At the given temperature, the density and viscosity of acetone are 791kg/m3 and 0.316103 Pa s, respectively. The pipe has an inner diameter of 0.0525m and can be assumed smooth; the length of each pipe segment can be read from the figure. The butterfly valve is at an angle of 10. Tip. The friction loss factor for the butterfly valve can be found in Table 2.2 in the lecture script
