Counseling can benefit the company by having potential problems addressed and keeping themfrom becoming overwhelming while also strengthening an employee's weakness. Problems canbe addressed performance through counseling because it can allow a manager to recommenddevelopmental activities. Counseling from supervisors can be needed when a decline inperformance or job standards is unmet because sometimes these changes can be personalproblems. Though counseling should not be personal, supervisors must know that they arecoaching on job-related topics or behavior policies that can help an employee improve. Delayingcounseling can confuse the message and limit its impact which can create more overwhelmingproblems. Waiting until definitive disciplinary action is permissible under an organization'spolicies can create a loss in production, a hostile work environment, and a decrease inefficiency. It also does not allow the employee time to correct their actions if it is due to poortraining because the action will be sent above and could end in termination immediately.Whereas if a supervisor addresses it quickly, training can be corrected and result in a productiveworker in the end. Production can be lost if supervisors wait because errors can slow down thecompany's process and push deadlines back. This can happen because it is not being done tothe company's standards. A hostile environment can also be a result because co-workers arewatching an individual not abide by the policies and not being corrected. This in turn can createan unfair workplace that later can turn into other employees following that individual's behaviorbecause there were no corrections. This hostile environment can go hand and hand with adecrease in efficiency because if coworkers are angry or going along with another's badperformance then the department as a whole will struggle to produce by a certain deadline.That is why supervisors must counsel when problems are developing and not when definitivedisciplinary action is permissible because it can create a fair environment that can allow anincrease in production
