Objective In this assignment, you will apply your data flow diagram knowledge acquired from Chapter 7 and the DFD Training session to complete a business process model (i.c., a data flow diagram) for possible implementation of a corporate recruiting system. Final deliverable of this assignment: A three-layered data flow diagram (DFD) (i.e., Context Diagram, Level-0 DFD, and Level-1 DFD). You are expected to use the DFD diagramming Tool in Microsoft Visio to complete this assignment. Specifically, Gane-Sarson notations will be used to develop your DFDs via Visio. 2. Mini Case: Developing a Two-layered Data Flow Model. This mini case consists of two sections - a Context Diagram and a Level-0 DFD. The context diagram is already provided, so you just need to carefully observe it and draw it in your software. For the level-0 DFD, you need to study the following scenario and draw it as a second page in the software. Scenario begins here: 2.1. About the Context Diagram: Consider a local median-sized hospital with 100 licensed beds and an Emergency Department to take care of the residents of the community. This hospital is affiliated with a few dozens of physicians with different specialties and operated by a staff of 50 employees working in one half of a dozen departments in the hospital. Due to the budget limit, instead of using a known EMR system (e.g., EPIC), this hospital plans to hire you to develop a home-grown health information system that will support daily tasks of three major cohorts of users: 1) Administrative Assistant - His/her tasks are: a) Adding new patient records (e.g., name, gender, etc.) into the system; b) Adding new employee records (e.g., name, gender, type, etc.) into the system; c). Modify existing records, including both patient and employee records, in the system; and d) Produce a monthly report of employee work hours and compensation. 2) Employee - On each day, the first thing an employee will do is to enter his/her arrival time using a dedicated kiosk located at the entry point of the hospital. Similarly, in the end of each day, an employee will enter his/her departure time using the same kiosk. In fact, both data entry jobs can be easily done by swiping the employee ID card through a Swipe-Time-Card device. In addition, an employee will receive a bi-weekly paycheck that is automatically produced by the system. 3) Receptionist - A receptionist's primary tasks include: a) Schedule an appointment for a patient who would like to visit a particular physician at the hospital (Note: a physician is affiliated with the hospital as an employee), b) Update an appointment due to unexpected changes in time/date or even a cancellation, and c) Make a request to produce a Monthly Payroll Report.
