Payroll:

  • Supervisor (Mr. John Doe): $15.00/hr. X 40 hrs. per week = $2400.00 per month.

  • Personnel (2 full-time employees) $11.00/hr. X 40 hrs. per week = $3520.00 per month ($1760.00/per employee). Additional labor during the holiday months of November, December, and January: 1 part-time employee $10.00/hr. X 20 hrs. per week = $800 per month.

  • Payroll Taxes: Federal income tax, Social Security and Medicare taxes, Federal Unemployment Tax Act (FUTA); Publication 15: IRS Tables at www.irs.gov; Used a conservative estimate of 15% of Personnel Costs.

Sales Forecast:

  • October-December prior to opening: We will hire a marketing firm to do a marketing blitz targeted at residential neighborhoods and small business centers to gain publicity and customers prior to opening our doors. We will also use person-to-person and business-to-business marketing concurrent with the marketing blitz.
  • Year 1 projected revenue is between $300,000 and $500,000. The firms objectives are to achieve 100-200 new customers within the first quarter of the year. By the mid-point of the year, the firm anticipates adding between 150 and 250 new customers and retaining 80-90 percent of the existing customers. By year end, the firm expects to add an additional 250-350 new customers and retain 85-95 of existing customers.

Operating Costs/Expenses:

  • Web Expense would cost the firm a one-time expense of $219 to designeminent.com to create the website and a $11.95 monthly service fee thereafter.
  • Auto Expense: In the first year there will be no expense other than gas and maintenance because Mr. Shaw,one of the partners, will donate a minivan, that he owns outright, to the company.
  • Office space will be donated through the use of Mr. Shaws garage that has previously been converted to an office. In either year two or three an office space will have to be leased. As the business expands, the customer base increases, and the need for additional storage arises.
  • Advertising Expense: The monthly projected advertising expense will vary. The expense will be higher in the first months of operation and the projected busier months of the year, October through December. Monthly advertising expenses will fluctuate between $30.00 and $65.00 monthly, depending on the season of year..
  • Training Expenses will be higher during the first few months because two employees must be trained in cleaning Maid in America way. Additionally, a part-time employee will be trained in October which increases the training expense in year one. Employees will receive continuous training throughout the year by Mr Doe.
  • Telephone/Wireless/Internet Expense: Spectrum Business Unlimited for $64.98 per month for 12 months includes: unlimited long distance calling, unlimited local calling, and 200 Mbps business internet.
  • Cleaning Supplies/Office supplies will cost an average of $0.75 per residential customer. For the firms business customers the cleaning supplies will cost $0.45 per business customer.
  • Insurance: To insure the firm and all employees that will cost approximately $2574.00 annually, per USAA business department.
  • Accounting: Quarterly statement preparation and payroll services will run the firm $94.99 per month for payroll services, $124.99 for quarterly statements, and $275.00 for annual statements.
  • Taxes & Licenses: Maid in Americas license expense is $175.00 annually.
  • Company shirts: Each employee and supervisor are required to wear the shirts that have the company logo on them, that are provided by the firm. Each person will receive 5 shirts. The owner/supervisor shirts will be polo shirts with the logo over the upper left, heart, portion of the shirt. The employees will receive t-shirts that layed out the same as the owner/manager polo shirts.
