Create a diagram that outlines the access controls for a college using a student information system like Banner. As you traverse through your education, you have had a chance to interact with many people on campus to discuss your needs to attend college. Consider this experience and your ideas of what access is needed for each department. Your history with MCC will help. You have likely visited Financial Aid, Student Accounts, Records and Registration, Advising, etc. Use that list plus any others that you may have interacted with. In addition, please consider the college accountants, IT, Buildings and Grounds, Library, etc for other services that are critical to making the college run. Then there are other services that are on campus, but may not be known or used as much like Counseling or Disabilities offices. Review the list of college departments at https://www.monroecc.edu/etsdbs/staffdir.nsf/CollegeDir-Depts?OpenView. Banner would be set up very similar to the diagram on page 4 with web servers, application servers, and database servers. The exercise is meant to realize the need for least privilege and assessing the risk for granting access to each group. When granting access, please assume there are separate applications for employee records, student records (grades and registration), financial aid, college finances, health records, inventory information, and general scheduling of college resources. All applications are accessed through the web servers. How would you map the groups to the applications to minimize the risks?
